بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى اللَّهِ رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا

Pronunciation

Bismillāhi walajnā, wa bismillāhi kharajnā, wa 'alallāhi rabbinā tawakkalnā.

Meaning

In Allah's name we enter, in Allah's name we leave, and upon Allah our Lord we place our trust.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

Pronunciation

Bismillāh, tawakkaltu 'alallāh, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh.

Meaning

In Allah's name, I place my trust in Allah — there is no power nor might except with Allah.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، وَإِنْ نَسِيَ فِي أَوَّلِهِ فَلْيَقُلْ: بِسْمِ اللَّهِ أَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ

Pronunciation

Bismillāh — and if forgotten at the start, say: Bismillāhi awwalahū wa ākhirah.

Meaning

In the name of Allah. (If you forget at the beginning, say: In the name of Allah at its beginning and its end).

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ

Pronunciation

Alḥamdu lillāhil-ladhī aṭ'amanī hādhā wa razaqanīhi min ghayri ḥawlin minnī wa lā quwwah.

Meaning

Praise be to Allah who fed me this and provided it for me without any might or power on my part.

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِيمَا رَزَقْتَهُمْ، وَاغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَارْحَمْهُمْ

Pronunciation

Allāhumma bārik lahum fīmā razaqtahum, waghfir lahum warḥamhum.

Meaning

O Allah, bless them in what You have provided for them, forgive them and have mercy on them. (Dua for one who feeds you).

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ

Pronunciation

Alḥamdu lillāhil-ladhī kasānī hādhā wa razaqanīhi min ghayri ḥawlin minnī wa lā quwwah.

Meaning

Praise be to Allah who clothed me with this and provided it for me without any might or power from me.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

Pronunciation

Allāhumma innī a'ūdhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khabā'ith.

Meaning

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from all evil and evil-doers.

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Pronunciation

Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar, Allāhu akbar. Subḥānal-ladhī sakh-khara lanā hādhā wa mā kunnā lahū muqrinīn, wa innā ilā rabbinā lamunqalibūn.

Meaning

Allah is the Greatest (three times). Glory be to Him who subjected this to us; we could never have done it. And indeed, to our Lord we shall return.

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

Pronunciation

A'ūdhu bikalimātillāhit-tāmmāti min sharri mā khalaq.

Meaning

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created. (Said when stopping at any place).

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ، بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Pronunciation

Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahū lā sharīka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamd, yuḥyī wa yumītu wa huwa ḥayyun lā yamūt, biyadihil-khayru wa huwa 'alā kulli shay'in qadīr.

Meaning

There is no god but Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion and the praise. He gives life and death, and He is Ever-Living and does not die. In His hand is all good, and He is capable of all things. (Said on entering the marketplace).

اللَّهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَافِعًا

Pronunciation

Allāhumma ṣayyiban nāfi'ā.

Meaning

O Allah, let it be a beneficial rain.

Pronunciation

Allāhumma innī as'aluka khayrahā wa a'ūdhu bika min sharrihā.

Meaning

O Allah, I ask You for its good and seek refuge in You from its evil. (Said during strong wind).

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي بِنِعْمَتِهِ تَتِمُّ الصَّالِحَاتُ

Pronunciation

Alḥamdu lillāhil-ladhī bini'matihī tatimmuṣ-ṣāliḥāt.

Meaning

Praise be to Allah by whose favour good things are completed. (Said on receiving good news).

مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ، لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ فِيهِ

Pronunciation

Mā shā'Allāh, lā quwwata illā billāh, Allāhumma bārik fīh.

Meaning

What Allah wills — there is no power except with Allah. O Allah, bless it. (Said when you admire something, to guard from the evil eye).

سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ

Pronunciation

Subḥānakallāhumma wa biḥamdik, ash-hadu an lā ilāha illā ant, astaghfiruka wa atūbu ilayk.

Meaning

Glory be to You O Allah, and praise. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance. (Said at the end of a gathering).

بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ، وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكَ، وَجَمَعَ بَيْنَكُمَا فِي خَيْرٍ

Pronunciation

Bārakallāhu laka, wa bāraka 'alayka, wa jama'a baynakumā fī khayr.

Meaning

May Allah bless you, shower His blessings upon you, and join you together in goodness.

ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ، وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ، وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ

Pronunciation

Dhahabaẓ-ẓama'u, wabtallatil-'urūqu, wa thabatal-ajru in shā'Allāh.

Meaning

The thirst is gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed — if Allah wills. (Said when breaking the fast).

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

Pronunciation

Allāhumma innaka 'afuwwun tuḥibbul-'afwa fa'fu 'annī.

Meaning

O Allah, You are Most Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me. (Said in the last ten nights of Ramadan).
