اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ

Pronunciation

Ayat al-Kursi — recite once for protection until morning.

Meaning

Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi in the evening has a guardian from Allah and no devil can approach him until morning.

قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ … قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ … قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ

Pronunciation

Surah Al-Ikhlās, Al-Falaq, An-Nās — three times each.

Meaning

Recite each of the three Quls three times — they will suffice you against everything.

أَمْسَيْنَا وَأَمْسَى الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ. رَبِّ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ مَا فِي هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ وَخَيْرَ مَا بَعْدَهَا، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِي هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ وَشَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهَا

Pronunciation

Amsaynā wa amsal-mulku lillāh… Rabbi as'aluka khayra mā fī hādhihil-laylah wa khayra mā ba'dahā, wa a'ūdhu bika min sharri mā fī hādhihil-laylah wa sharri mā ba'dahā.

Meaning

We have entered the evening and the whole kingdom belongs to Allah… My Lord, I ask You for the good of this night and after it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this night and after it.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

Pronunciation

Sayyid al-Istighfār — as recited in the morning.

Meaning

Whoever says this in the evening with certainty and dies that night enters Paradise.

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

Pronunciation

A'ūdhu bikalimātillāhit-tāmmāti min sharri mā khalaq.

Meaning

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

Pronunciation

Bismillāhil-ladhī lā yaḍurru ma'asmihī shay'un fil-arḍi wa lā fis-samā'i wa huwas-samī'ul-'alīm.

Meaning

In the name of Allah with whose name nothing is harmed…

رَضِيتُ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا، وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا، وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ نَبِيًّا

Pronunciation

Raḍītu billāhi rabban, wa bil-Islāmi dīnan, wa bi-Muḥammadin ﷺ nabiyyā.

Meaning

I am pleased with Allah as Lord, Islam as religion, and Muhammad ﷺ as Prophet.
