Hajj Guide

• Repent sincerely, seek forgiveness from family and friends, and settle any debts or return anything owed.
• Ensure the funds you use are lawful (halal) — Hajj is accepted from pure earnings.
• Learn the rites in order; write down the days: 8th (Mina), 9th (Arafah), 10th (Muzdalifah, Jamarah, sacrifice, shaving, Tawaf al-Ifadah), 11th–13th (Mina, stoning).
• Pack lightly: two white Ihram sheets (men), modest loose clothing (women), unscented soap, sandals, a small bag for pebbles, medicines.
• Write a will, and pray two rak'ahs before leaving home.

💡 Intend every difficulty of the journey as worship — the tiredness itself is rewarded.

• Perform ghusl (a full bath) if possible, or wudu. Trim nails and remove unwanted hair beforehand.
• Apply perfume to the body only — never to the Ihram cloth.
• Men: wear the izar (lower sheet) and rida (upper sheet), no stitched clothing, no head covering. Women: any modest loose clothing, face and hands uncovered.
• Pray two rak'ahs (Sunnah of Ihram) if convenient, then make the intention as the Miqat approaches.

⚠️ From the moment of niyyah the Ihram restrictions apply: no cutting hair/nails, no perfume, no intimacy, no hunting, no arguing.

• Men uncover the right shoulder (Idtiba') for the whole of this Tawaf.
• Begin at the Black Stone: face it, raise the right hand and say 'Bismillahi Allahu Akbar'. Kiss it, touch it, or point from a distance.
• Men perform Raml (brisk walking) in the first three circuits, then walk normally.
• There is no fixed du'a — recite Qur'an, dhikr, or speak to Allah in your own language.
• Between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone recite the verse below.

💡 Tap the counter each time you pass the Black Stone — it keeps your count safe in the crowd.

• Two rak'ahs: Surah al-Kafirun in the first, Surah al-Ikhlas in the second.
• Drink Zamzam facing the Qiblah, in three breaths, and make du'a.
• Climb Safa, face the Ka'bah, raise your hands, say 'Allahu Akbar' three times and recite the du'a of Safa; make personal du'a between repetitions.
• Between the two green markers men jog briskly; women walk normally.
• Safa → Marwah is ONE trip; Marwah → Safa is the second. Finish the seventh trip on Marwah.

• Men: shave the head (Halq — greater reward) or trim evenly from all sides (Taqsir).
• Women: gather the hair and cut roughly a fingertip's length from the ends.
• Change into your regular clothes; all Ihram restrictions are lifted.
• Use the waiting days for Tawaf an-Nafl, prayer in the Haram, Qur'an and du'a.

• Perform ghusl, wear the Ihram, and make the intention for Hajj.
• Travel to Mina and pray Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha and Fajr there — each at its own time, with the four-rak'ah prayers shortened to two (qasr), without combining.
• Spend the night in Mina in dhikr, Qur'an and rest — tomorrow is Arafah.
• Keep reciting the Talbiyah frequently throughout the day.

💡 Sleep early. Arafah demands your strength and your full attention.

• Pray Dhuhr and Asr together, shortened, at the time of Dhuhr (as done at Masjid Namirah).
• Listen to the khutbah if available, then devote the entire afternoon to du'a — facing the Qiblah, hands raised.
• Ask for everything: forgiveness, family, health, guidance, Jannah. Do not spend the day sleeping or in idle talk.
• Stay inside Arafah's boundary until after sunset — do not leave early.
• Make du'a for the whole Ummah and for those who asked you to pray for them.

⚠️ Leaving Arafah before sunset invalidates the standing — remain until the sun has fully set.

• On arrival pray Maghrib and Isha together — Maghrib three rak'ahs, Isha two — then sleep.
• Collect 7 (or up to 49–70) small pebbles, about the size of a chickpea, for the stoning days.
• Stay until Fajr; pray Fajr early, then stand at al-Mash'ar al-Haram making du'a until the sky brightens.
• The elderly, women and the weak may leave for Mina after midnight.

💡 Sleeping on the open ground here is Sunnah — take a light mat and keep your pebbles safe.

• Throw one pebble at a time — not all together — into the basin.
• Say 'Allahu Akbar' with each throw.
• Choose a safe time; there is no extra reward in crowding or in shouting.
• This is the only pillar stoned today.

• Arrange the Hadi through an authorised agent or scheme, or perform it yourself if able.
• Men: shave the entire head (best) or trim from all sides. Women: cut a fingertip's length.
• Change into normal clothes, wear perfume — but intimacy remains forbidden until Tawaf al-Ifadah.
• The order (stone → sacrifice → shave → Tawaf) is Sunnah; if you did them out of order there is no sin.

• Perform seven circuits of the Ka'bah; there is no Idtiba' or Raml in this Tawaf.
• Pray two rak'ahs behind Maqam Ibrahim and drink Zamzam.
• Perform seven trips of Sa'i between Safa and Marwah, ending on Marwah.
• Return to Mina to spend the nights of the 11th and 12th there.

⚠️ Tawaf al-Ifadah cannot be skipped or delegated — Hajj is incomplete without it.

• Begin with Jamrat al-Sughra (small), then al-Wusta (middle), then al-Aqabah (largest).
• Seven pebbles at each pillar, one by one, saying 'Allahu Akbar' with every throw — 21 per day.
• Make du'a after the first and second pillars; after the third, leave without stopping.
• You may leave on the 12th after stoning (Nafr al-Awwal) if you exit Mina before sunset; otherwise stay for the 13th.

💡 The weak or ill may appoint someone to throw on their behalf.

• Perform seven circuits, then two rak'ahs if possible.
• Make your final du'a with a full heart, ask to be brought back, and leave without turning back to gaze.
• Do not delay your departure with shopping or long stays after this Tawaf.
• If you can, visit Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah and send salam upon the Prophet ﷺ.
