Privacy Policy

This page is maintained by SAMA Prayer to explain how our app handles your information. It is not an independent certification or legal opinion.

Who we are

SAMA Prayer is an independently operated Islamic companion app. For privacy questions, you can reach us at Privacy@samaprayer.co.uk.

What information we use

We keep information collection to an absolute minimum. The only personal data the app processes is your approximate location:

  • Prayer times — your latitude and longitude are sent to the Aladhan prayer-time API to return accurate local timings.
  • Qibla compass — your latitude and longitude are used locally to calculate the direction to the Kaaba in Makkah.
  • Location fallback — if your browser does not share location, we may use your IP address with a public geolocation service (ipapi.co or ipwho.is) to estimate your city so prayer times can still work.

We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any account to use the app. The contact form is optional and sends your message through formsubmit.co directly to our inbox.

What we do not do

  • We do not store your location, IP address, or usage data on our servers.
  • We do not create user accounts or profiles.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers.
  • We do not offer subscriptions, trials, or in-app purchases.
  • We do not track you across other websites or apps.

Legal basis under GDPR

Where EU data-protection law applies, we rely on legitimate interest and, where required, your consent to process location data. Location is necessary to provide the core functionality you requested — local prayer times and Qibla direction — and we only share the minimum data needed with the prayer-time and geolocation services listed above. You can deny location access at any time in your browser or device settings.

Cookies and analytics

SAMA Prayer does not use analytics pixels, advertising cookies, or third-party trackers. Only essential technical cookies or local storage needed for the app to function may be used by your browser or by our hosting platform. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings.

Retention and deletion

Because we do not store personal data on our own servers, there is no retained dataset to delete. Location requests are processed in real time and are not kept after you close the app. If you use the contact form, your message is handled by formsubmit.co and delivered to our email inbox; please contact us if you would like us to remove a specific message.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data. Since SAMA Prayer does not hold personal data directly, the fastest way to exercise control is to disable location access in your device settings. For any other request, email us at Privacy@samaprayer.co.uk and we will respond within 30 days.

Security and reporting

We use HTTPS for all app traffic and choose service providers that follow industry security practices. If you discover a security issue or vulnerability, please report it responsibly to Privacy@samaprayer.co.uk rather than posting it publicly.
